Hello All,

Just taken the plunge and bought this highly recommended program and get designing my new layout in detail.

I'm amazed at how powerful Templot appears to be... but eeeeeeeeekk :? !

Working through the videos are helping me to understand how the program works, I've a few questions that remain unanswered, so if this is the right place to ask them (?) here go's....

1. I plan to build the layout in OO 'finescale' and assume that the 'OO-SF' option in the gauge selection menu is the same?  But what is OO-BF and OO-DOGAF etc?

2. I've used AutoCAD to design the layout outline to work out feasibillity etc, etc The layout will be approx 21ft by 13ft (in loft) and am trying to get the image into Templot - any help form anyone gone before would be very much appreciated.

3. The layout will be multi level. can levels be designed in to Templot.

Many thanks for any help.

Mark

Mark,

Yes, 00 has many standards to choose from!

One of the documents in the 00-SF Yahoo Group tries to summarise  them:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/00-SF/files/

A COMPARISION OF 00 GAUGE STANDARDS.doc

If you are not enrolled in that Yahoo group, here is a (long) direct URL:

http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/kOvASpqKPyGhlYgZoybfel8mQEALzJbfBKsZwv4SoEaxoDlgiSu7mZynItG9MxevknBBHPt6LJ3rhmxw5IvXrg/A%20COMPARISION%20OF%2000%20GAUGE%20STANDARDS.doc  >

I will also try and attach it to this posting;

OO-BF and OO-DOGAF

00-BF = Original 00 BRMSB standards (14.5mm wheel back-to-back)

00-DOGAF = Double O Gauge Assoc 'Fine' (14.8mm wheel back-to-back)

For DOGA Fine also see the Double O Gauge Assoc site page:

Here are the 00-SF Group recommended dimensions for 00-SF track:

Track gauge: 16.2mm min.
Check gauge: 15.2mm min.
V-crossing flangeway: 1.0mm min 1.1mm max
Check span: 14.3mm max.
which keeps everything to one place of decimals.

More on 00-SF in Files document:

00-SF.MAIN.BENEFIT.txt

Direct URL for that:

Many thanks for the info Rodney, that word doc was particualy helpful in clearing up the questions I had regarding the different OO references. OO-SF is the way to go then!!

I've been playing about trying to get an AutoCAD image onto a Templot background but with only partial success by converting a DWG into a PDF and then a BMP in an image editor but the scale gone to pott. AHGGGG :? :D

Hi Mark,

Save it from AutoCAD in DXF format and then import into the background shapes in Templot.

Martin.
